Course summary:

This course will provide LSAs and supply teachers, and others who are new to or lacking confidence in teaching phonics, with the knowledge and skills they need to lead and support phonic sessions in EYFS, KS1 and KS2.

This course will provide delegates with a knowledge and understanding of relevant terminology for the teaching of phonics and the correct enunciation of phonemes. It will include an overview of expectations for progression and pace through Early Years and KS1. The teaching of phonics at KS2 will also be discussed. Delegates will have the opportunity to watch and discuss a phonics session, focusing on each element of the recommended teaching sequence. They will also become familiar with a range of activities and resources which can be used to enhance the teaching of phonics.
