Course summary:

This course is an excellent introduction for teachers who have recently taken on the role of English Subject Leader. Different aspects of the role will be explored

During this course we will explore the key elements required in order to be an effective English Subject Leader. This will include:

Being an English subject leader - what does it involve?
Knowing the elements of the English curriculum and how they are taught in your school e.g. phonics, spelling, speaking and listening
Identifying strengths and weaknesses
Writing a development plan
Your monitoring role
Lesson observations
Work scrutiny
Gathering and analysing data
Supporting colleagues
Managing resources

Delegates will be provided with a range of practical ideas to support them in carrying out their role effectively.
