Course summary:

Many schools are choosing to move from guided group reading sessions to whole class reading. This course will explore ways of teaching key reading skills through this approach.

The National Curriculum does not specify how reading should be taught but does identify the key skills pupils need to learn, for example the ability to infer, predict and summarise.

This course will look at how different models of whole class reading address these, and other, key reading skills. A range of practical ideas and strategies will be explored along with the different ways in which text, or other information sources, can be accessed.

If you have just started to teach reading as a whole class or are considering doing so then this course is for you.
