Feedback from teachers and English subject leaders highlights the fact that spelling remains an issue in many schools. The issue has been heightened by the recent lockdowns and disruption to schooling.
In this e-learning course we will explore a range of strategies for improving spelling including the role of phonics, morphology and etymology as specified in the National Curriculum. A number of practical suggestions for teaching will also be explored.
In addition, the importance of feedback and the need to identify and address the type of spelling errors pupils are making will be considered.
